Privacy Policy
Band Duo doesn't collect personal information. There are no accounts, ads, analytics or tracking, and we don't run a server that receives anything from the app. Your scores and settings stay on your iPhone. If you turn on “Play in your room”, the camera is used on your device to place the stage on your table, and the video is never saved or sent anywhere. Leaderboards, achievements and playing with friends go through Apple's Game Center, only if you use it.
Who we are
Band Duo is made and published by Just A Little Project Studio LLC, a small independent studio in New York, USA (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what information Band Duo uses, where it goes and the choices you have.
What we collect
Nothing that identifies you. Band Duo has no sign-up, and the app doesn't send information to us. We don't use advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking tools, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
- No name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or location
- No microphone access: the music is synthesized by the app
- No in-app purchases: Band Duo is a one-time App Store purchase
What stays on your device
Band Duo saves your high scores, stars, career totals, settings (such as note speed, audio calibration, No fail and the room view setting) on your iPhone so they're there next time. They're never sent to us. Deleting the app deletes them.
Camera
When “Play in your room” is on, Band Duo asks for camera access and uses Apple's ARKit to find a table and place the stage on it. Camera frames are processed on your device as you play. They are never recorded, saved, or sent to us or anyone else.
Prefer not to use the camera? Turn off “Play in your room” in Band Duo's settings and play in the virtual room instead. You can also remove camera access at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera.
Apple Game Center
Game Center is optional. If you're signed in to Game Center on your device, your scores, career totals and achievements are sent to Apple's Game Center so they can appear on leaderboards and in the Games app. Your Game Center nickname (and, if you have one, your Game Center picture) can be shown in the game and to other players on leaderboards. Game Center is run by Apple under Apple's privacy policy; we don't receive your Apple Account details, and we only see leaderboard entries the same way any player does.
Band and Versus games with friends also run through Game Center. During a match, your Game Center nickname, your instrument, and your live score, streak and results are shared with the other players in that match through Apple's Game Center service. We don't receive or store them.
You can sign out of Game Center, or change who can see your activity, in Settings › Game Center. The game works without it.
Purchases
Band Duo is bought through the App Store. Apple handles the payment and never shares your payment details with us. We receive only sales reports from Apple that don't identify you.
If you have turned on Share With App Developers in your iPhone's Analytics & Improvements settings, Apple may give us anonymous crash reports and usage statistics. Apple strips them of anything that identifies you, and you can turn this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
Services we rely on
- Apple App Store: downloads, payment and updates
- Apple Game Center (optional): leaderboards, achievements, challenges and multiplayer
- Apple ARKit and RealityKit: run on your device for the room view; nothing is sent to Apple or us
Children
Band Duo is suitable for all ages. We don't collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Game Center and purchases for children are managed by the parent through Apple's Family Sharing and Screen Time settings, where purchases and Game Center features can be limited or turned off.
Keeping and deleting your information
Because we don't receive or store information about you, there's nothing for us to keep or delete. Your scores and settings stay on your device until you delete the app. Game Center data is managed by Apple in Settings › Game Center.
Your choices
- Turn the camera room view on or off in Band Duo's settings
- Allow or remove camera access in Settings › Privacy & Security › Camera
- Sign in to or out of Game Center in Settings › Game Center
- Delete the app to remove everything it saved
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll post the new version on this page and update the effective date at the top. If a change affects how we use information we already have, we'll say so clearly here (and in the app where that makes sense) before it takes effect.
